Allan Matson
Waitematā Local Board Member

After a merchant banking career, I retrained as an architect, specialising in heritage. Currently President of Civic Trust Auckland, I’m a previous member of Council’s Heritage Advisory Panel and the boards of NZ Historic Places Trust and CBD’s Heart of the City.

For the last 20 years, I’ve worked locally as a heritage consultant, developing knowledge, experience and relationships useful to the local board. Heritage is my passion, and I was humbled to receive the Board’s Good Citizens’ Award (2013) for outstanding contribution to the community.

The current Board however needs fundamental change. It is unresponsive to independent community feedback, and we deserve better. With a C&R team, I’ll continue fighting for independent decision-making, greater protection of our built heritage and character; and responsible guardianship of our environment for the benefit of all Aucklanders.
