C&R celebrates election wins

Communities and Residents (C&R) is celebrating a strong campaign as it secures key seats across Auckland in the recent local elections.

Former Whau Local Board Chair, Tracy Mulholland, unseated incumbent Ross Clow and will now join re-elected C&R councillors Hon Christine Fletcher QSO and Desley Simpson who returned with a clear majority for their respective wards.

"Tracy and her team ran a fantastic campaign and her success proves C&R can win key council seats going forward. We're pleased to see the positive swings for C&R, not only in the Whau, but also across Auckland", says C&R President Kit Parkinson.

In the Local Board contests, C&R's Albert-Eden team defeated former Chair, Peter Haynes, with Kendyl Smith convincingly winning the final seat in Maungawhau. Puketāpapa Local Board saw the addition of a new C&R member Fiona Lai joining incumbent Ella Kumar.

Sarah Trotman, ONZM, also persuasively took up a position on the Waitematā Local Board and stopped a centre-left City Vision clean sweep.

"Our candidates are dedicated advocates for their communities. Their hard work means C&R now has a foothold in all areas we stood, which puts us in good-stead in three years time", says Mr Parkinson.

  • Councillors Christine Fletcher and Desley Simpson returning with a clear majority for Albert-Eden-Puketāpapa and Ōrākei Wards respectively
