Will McKenzie
Candidate for Albert-Eden-Puketāpapa Ward
Candidate for Albert-Eden Local Board (Owairaka)

I’m a current Albert-Eden Local Board Member and resource management lawyer with over 25 years’ experience in sports management, and public and transport policy.  I have successfully campaigned for the protection of our local green spaces, including Chamberlain Park and Fowlds Park.

I’ve advocated for: $2b integrated light-metro rather than $15-$30b tunnelled light-rail; the retention of off-peak parking on arterial roads; preserving character and focusing growth to where adequate infrastructure can be provided; and protecting our unique coastal environment along the Manukau and Waitematā harbours.

My wife and I have lived in Sandringham for 26 years. We love this diverse community, its history, and green spaces.

If elected, I’ll work with other Councillors to bring about fundamental change to how Auckland Council operates and be part of independent decision-making, free of control from central government and its political parties.
